Newman’s Castle

Newman’s Castle, located in Bellville, Texas, is the realization of a dream by local baker Mike Newman. After exploring Europe in his early 20s, Newman was inspired by the medieval castles he encountered and aspired to build one himself. In 1998, he began constructing his own castle on a 20-acre plot in the Bellville countryside. Over approximately eight years, with the assistance of just one helper, Newman completed the castle, which features authentic medieval elements such as a moat, drawbridge, 62-foot bell tower, chapel, and even a dungeon.

Newman’s Castle provides a fitting backdrop that combines medieval ambiance with Texan charm. The castle’s towering stone walls and historic design evoke the spirit of Scotland’s own medieval strongholds, where strength and tradition have been celebrated for centuries. Adding to the authenticity, the Scottish flag proudly flies over the castle, making it a perfect setting for our Queens of the Stone Highland Games. With its grand architecture, open grounds, and dramatic presence, Newman’s Castle sets the stage for an unforgettable celebration of athleticism, sisterhood, and Scottish heritage.
